This site is dedicated solely to aspects of New Zealand history. It is presented by Terry Sutcliffe to aid and assist research on relatively specific areas of history in New Zealand.
Terry has had a lifelong involvement in history. This interest was stimulated by his father, Launce Sutcliffe, who held office-bearing roles in many history-based organisations in Auckland through the last quarter of the 20th century.
Terry attended the University of Auckland where he studied Law; he also studied Anthropology for two years where he was taught by eminent historian, Dame Anne Salmond. He is a member of the N.Z. Horological Institute, and has presented papers on horological history at it’s annual conference.
Terry has a deep interest in social history, and has undertaken considerable oral history over the last 20 years. He is also well known for his presentation of Antiques Roadshows in Auckland for fund raising purposes. He has also accumulated a significant collection of items, photographs, and books, and wants to be able to share this resource with others who are seeking information.
Terry hopes that this site will enable him to connect with people, to share information, items, and stories together, which will in turn enable this website to develop and grow.
